Captain Greg Sears & Wendy Sears
Greg and Wendy started Mass Bay Guides in 1999 as a guide service. It is now a multi boat charter operation. Every family has a foundation, and for us, that’s Captain Greg. Most people around the docks just call him “OG.” Greg started Mass Bay Guides back in 1999, but his time on the water started way before that. He’s done it all—from working the deck of a commercial lobster boat to serving as a Boatswain’s Mate in the U.S. Coast Guard, including a stint on an icebreaker in Kodiak, Alaska.
Wendy handles all of the internals in Mass Bay Guides – phone conversations, questions, booking, you name it!
The Sears Brothers
Bryan Sears: Whether he’s navigating the Stellwagen Bank for giant Bluefin or hunting Striped Bass along the coast, Bryan’s focus is always on the client’s experience. He’s spent time fishing all over the world, from the tropical waters of Costa Rica to the rugged coast of Prince Edward Island, but Scituate will always be home. For Bryan, a successful trip isn’t just about the weight of the haul; it’s about making sure the person on the other end of the line is having the time of their life.
Taylor Sears: He has worn every hat in the industry—tackle manufacturing, retail, private captaining, and professional guiding. He’s a high-energy guy who lives for the “big bite.” He and his brother have helped put Mass Bay Guides on the map as one of the most successful sportfishing operations in the Northeast. He loves the technical side of the sport, from custom rigging to the latest in trolling and live bait tactics.
The Sears Brothers also have another company called SeaBros Fishing which is a winter podcast, marine artwork, and consultant business.
1st Mate and Captain Ben Makaroff
Ben has been with Mass Bay Guides since 2022. He has been instrumental in keeping MBG operating with mechanical, fishing, and people skills.

Look, we aren’t going to tell you we’re the only guys who can catch fish in Scituate. There are plenty of good captains out there. But what we can promise is an honest effort. We work harder than anyone to make sure you’re in the right spot at the right time.

At the end of the day, we’re a family business. When you fish with us, you’re stepping into our world. We take pride in our reputation because our name is literally on the line. We keep our boats clean, our gear top-notch, and our attitude positive. We want the “vibe” on the boat to be one of excitement and camaraderie. There’s enough stress in the world—fishing should be the escape from it.
