Children’s Fishing Trip Info:

Trip length: 3hr booking Required

Time of year: We do childrens fishing trips during our regular season May 15th – October 31st.

What to expect: The kids adventure trips are 3hrs. They are geared towards children under 12 years old. We typically bring you a couple miles outside the harbor, drop a few bottom and bait rods and try to bring in a few sea creatures.

Depending on the time of year we may be able to pull a few lobster traps or crab traps if we have them in the water. We can also bring a crab trap with us to have some fun. We usually let the kids steer the boat for a little while as well! This trip is great for kids birthday parties, family hangouts, etc.

Species typically caught: Bottom fish creatures, maybe some bait fish, sometimes we run into a few striped bass or bluefish.

The children’s fishing adventure trip is not necessarily a hardcore fishing trip. Hardcore fishing trips start ay 1/2 day 5 hr trips. If you are interested in booking more of a serious fishing trip with your kids please visit our booking page below.

Education on the Water: More Than Just a Fishing Trip

A day on the water is a hands-on classroom that no school building can replicate. Our children’s adventure trips are designed to spark curiosity about the diverse marine ecosystem right here in Massachusetts Bay. Beyond just catching fish, we take the time to explain the “why” behind what we do. From understanding how the local tides affect fish behavior to identifying the different species that call Scituate Harbor home, we aim to turn every young angler into a junior marine biologist for the day.

We often encounter more than just fish; it’s common to see seals, ospreys, and various crustaceans that give children a front-row seat to the North Atlantic food chain. By fostering this connection to the ocean at a young age, we help instill a sense of environmental stewardship and respect for the natural world that lasts a lifetime.

Safety First: A Stress-Free Environment for Parents

We understand that for many parents, taking young children out on a boat can feel a bit daunting. That is why safety is the cornerstone of our “Kids Adventure” trips. Our vessels are equipped with all U.S. Coast Guard-approved safety gear, including life jackets specifically sized for smaller children.

Before we leave the dock, our captains provide a brief, kid-friendly safety orientation to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident. Our crew is specifically trained to work with children—we have the patience to handle tangled lines, the expertise to help with casting, and a constant eye on the deck to ensure a secure and stable environment. You can sit back and capture the photos while we handle the bait, the hooks, and the heavy lifting.

We recommend packing a small “adventure kit” that includes:

  • Sun Protection: Sunscreen (lotion is preferred over spray to keep the deck safe), hats, and polarized sunglasses to see through the water’s surface.
  • Snacks and Hydration: The salt air works up an appetite! Bring plenty of water and easy-to-eat snacks.
  • A Camera or Phone: You’ll want to capture the look on their face when they see their first sea creature up close.
  • Motion Ease: If you are worried about sea sickness, consult with your pediatrician about over-the-counter options before the trip, though our children’s trips typically stay in the calmer, protected waters near the shoreline.
