About Mass Bay Guides:

Mass Bay Guides was started in 1999 by Captain Greg Sears, a Massachusetts fisherman who has worked his way up from a stern man on a lobster boat, to a USCG boatswains mate, and is now a licensed 100 Ton USCG Captain of his own charter boat. Greg started Mass Bay Guides as a way to give beginner to expert fisherman advice on hiring professional Captains and Mates or Charter Boats. His goal has been to teach you how and where to fish in Massachusetts. Since then, Greg formed a co-operation of charter fishing boats and has created a web site designed to promote an extraordinary fishing fleet in Scituate Harbor. Greg has established a fair and uniform way of advertising, pricing, and booking, that accommodates all types of fisherman. We are all independent/private owners, captains, and mates who have fished in Massachusetts most of our lives. We have joined together to exchange fishing information and help each other create a successful fishing adventure for you. Our fleet is proud to work together and we love the experience of taking people into a world that we are passionate about. Our Motto: We Love to Catch Fish!

Booking with Mass Bay Guides:

Mass Bay Guides is a service to you and our fleet. There are no charges to you for booking with Mass Bay Guides. We are here to guide you on choosing the right fishing trip. The service was designed to give fisherman, like you, a choice of great fishing boats without having to search the phone book, web, or destination for a desired price or boat. You may choose your boat and style of fishing. Boats are booked on order of seniority length of time with Mass Bay Guides. We will refer you to the best boat for your needs. Call us and we will help you in organizing your fishing trip including lodging and transportation assistance. All of our prices are regulated by our board of governors and our trips are great on every boat. We have 7 boats available 7 days a week, allowing us to be flexible with your date and price range. We also work with other charter companies in other locations in and around Massachusetts and we can refer you to the right company for your location and desired type of fishing. Most of us are full time charter fishermen or commercial fishermen. Our Captains are experienced in all types of fishing from light tackle fishing to monster fishing on heavy tackle. Our boats are all well maintained and the safety factors are all overseen by one another. We encourage inspection by the USCG. Full charter insurance and federal permits are requirements for all boats. We take great pride in being one of the only Co- Operation Charter Fishing Fleets in Massachusetts.

Fishing With Mass Bay Guides

American Charterman is a movie series filmed in Massachusetts. The series captures every day people, like you, fishing on various boats in the Mass Bay Guides fleet.  The first episode of the series shows 15 Huge Stripers and 6 Schooly Tuna with some of the most incredible fast pace action set to an upbeat modern musical background . The second episode of the series, now in editing, shows Large Shark and Cod set to the same fast pace action. The scenery in these films is out of this world! All Fishing Trips Include: The best bait & tackle and experienced 1st Mate. USCG manning requirements state that the 1st Mate's duties are for the safety of passengers. 1st Mates will work for the passengers during the trip preparing bait & tackle, rigging, and preparing your fish for eating. These duties are compensated by Gratuity. The usual compensation is 15% to 20% of the cost of the trip. Thank You for appreciating the hard work these mates do for you.

Children's Fishing Party Special:

3 hr inshore bottom fishing for small sharks and other creatures. Pull a lobster pot and discover a lobster. See whales and dolphin in their natural habitat.

Guide Service in Your Boat:

Learn to catch tuna, shark, striped bass or hire us to operate your boat while you entertain your guests. Available for tournaments $350 per day.
